NAIROBI AIR SHOW 2013!

After an absence of more than ten years, the Wilson Airport Air Show is back in Nairobi.

WHEN: 14th - 15th December 2013
WHERE: Wilson Airport

2013 seems a great opportunity for the air show’s comeback as the country celebrates 50 years of independence. The last big air show was held in 2002. The air show festival will run for two days, and is expected to attract 25,000 visitors.

There will be displays of fighter jets, commercial aircraft, helicopters and gyro-copters. There will be aerobatic performances exclusively by Kenyan pilots. Crop dusting aircraft will also be at the air show. There will be races between aircraft and motor vehicles to see which can beat the other on the runway.
Kenya Air Force, Kenya Police Air Wing, Kenya Wildlife Service and Kenya Airways have confirmed their participation in the event.

A special feature of this year’s air show is the addition of a festival village with concerts and music entertainment throughout the weekend. Some of Kenya’s best-loved artists will perform. There will be a Jubilee Concert on the evening of Saturday 14 December. The climax of activities will be a fireworks display on the evening of Sunday 15 December.

The air show has been generously supported by Kenya Breweries. The company has sponsored the air show through its flagship product, Tusker beer. “The excitement and the feeling of togetherness that the Tusker Air Festival will generate is consistent with what our brand stands for,” said KBL Managing Director Joe Muganda
