THE AFRICAN FOOD AND CULTURAL FESTIVAL

An event that aims to celebrate the magic of "Mama Africa", The Africa Food and Cultural Festival is happening for the first time in East Africa... in our very own Nairobi, Kenya.

The festival will bring together as many African countries (if not all) as possible to come, share and showcase their food, music, fashion and culture with the rest of Africa. This is also the definite place for people from different African nations to meet up and network.

There will be music by Dj Joe Mfalme and Creme De La Creme, Dan Aceda and a few other surprise acts from Africa to entertain the crowd.

SONDEKA FEST

Creatives Garage is excited to present to you Sondeka Fest!  Sondeka Fest will be Kenya’s first annual creative festival, 

WHEN: 29th - 1st December
WHERE: Greenhouse Mall, Ngong Road
Time: 8.00am - 10.00pm daily

A 3-day festival open to the public that will enable creative entrepreneurs to showcase and sell their goods and services, attract investment and develop new markets. It is also geared towards celebrating Kenya at 50. Thus the theme “Kenya at 50 and beyond”. 
There will be 5 teams of creatives, including painters, digital artists and fashion designers who will be creating masterpieces out of re-usable items in 50 hours. The pieces of art will then be auctioned to the public on the final day of the festival. The money received will go into running a 10-week art program in 5 partnering children’s homes.

There will be performances by dancers, musicians, bands, poets, DJs and fun activities like bladah play-offs. We will also have exhibitions and mini events like Artsy Mama and the Mini Garage for kids:
  • Artsy mama is an exhibition and creative seminar for stay at home parents. The seminar includes guest panellists who share their success stories as stay at home parents. The theme for this edition of Artsy mama is ‘Do It Yourself’ and will feature interior design enthusiast Nancy Mukabi, Elle Designers and Jaclyn Juma of Earthmovers LTD. It will be happening on Friday 29th Nov (2pm-4pm).
  • The Mini Garage will be happening throughout the 3 days of the festival. The kids will be involved in art activities like colouring, painting, and drawing. They will be supervised by the Creatives Garage team

The live performances at the festival include: 
29th Nov:
· 10am - 10.30am:Opening Ceremony: Kenya Performing Arts Group
· 10.30 - 2pm: Music by DJ Blank
· 4pm - 5.30pm: Music by DJ Kris
· 5.30pm - 7.30pm: Electric Fuse – live performance by Son of a Beat Crew
· 7.30pm - 12am: 60s/70s themed party by DJ D-Lite
 
30th Nov:
· 2pm - 4pm: Floetry Mash up – featuring upcoming spoken word and rap artists
· 4pm - 6pm: Zilizopendwa Live – by Ziki and her band, Peter Nyabuto, Azz, Linda and Ashley Nyambura
· 6pm - 8.30pm: Penya Africa Presents Dempsey , KIU and Sauti Academy
· 8.30pm till late: Muthurukishion – Afrolectic Tribal House music by DJs Kollektive and Dance Parade (KES 300)

1st Dec:
· 9am - 1pm: Kutendereza Party - featuring the Kenyan Boys Choir, Kenyan Girls’ Choir, Jubilee Chorale, Nairobi Girls Chorale, St. Johns Pumwani Choir and Chosen Generation from Braeside
· 1pm - 6pm: Live performances from Mercy Myra, Sarabi, H_art the Band , Everlast and music from DJ Absolute.

UNDER THE SKY!

An afternoon of  live band music from Sequira ft. Don Sax Therapy and Dj Protege.

KENYA WORLD CUP TROPHY TOUR!!!

The World’s most coveted football trophy, the FIFA World Cup, will land in Kenya for its second visit to the country in 3 years. Kenya will be one of only six African countries which will be hosting the trophy, in a tour to popularize the next World Cup slated for Brazil, a feat that will also be part of Kenya's 50 year celebrations.

The trophy will arrive in Kenya on November 27th for a two day tour and will be received by President Uhuru Kenyatta at JKIA.

Over the course of the tour stop, fans of the game will be able to experience several activities planned by Coca-Cola and Fifa. Hundreds of fans will win free tickets through Coca-Cola promotions which will give them a chance to not only get up close with the trophy, but take a picture next to it during a public viewing session at KICC. Lucky fans will also get the opportunity to win branded merchandise, a worthy souvenir they will all live to cherish. In addition, there will be a concert graced by David Correy who has sung the theme song for the 2014 World Cup edition


The first time the trophy landed in Kenya was in 2010 prior to the last World Cup held in South Africa. The trophy, as is custom was received and only touched by the President, then Mwai Kibaki. Only sitting presidents and World Cup winning players are allowed to lay their hands on the 18-carat gold malachite base trophy. As it is, President Uhuru Kenyatta, is the only person in the country who will be allowed to touch the trophy.

The trophy will be in the country as part of a worldwide tour spanning over 148,000kms through 88 countries and the five continents, courtesy of Coca-Cola. Other African countries which will host the trophy include; Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, Ghana, Tanzania and South Africa.

'No more leaks no more stains', keeping her healthy in school, is a sanitary pad and pants project that seeks to address the issue of our girls in the impoverished villages, orphans, n the vulnerable, missing school during menses and their use of unhygienic materials e.g cow dung due to lack of access of pads, and education on the same.


We call upon well wishers to assist us keep her healthy in school and ensure the girls fully participate in school and maximize their potential.
