KENYA WORLD CUP TROPHY TOUR!!!

The World’s most coveted football trophy, the FIFA World Cup, will land in Kenya for its second visit to the country in 3 years. Kenya will be one of only six African countries which will be hosting the trophy, in a tour to popularize the next World Cup slated for Brazil, a feat that will also be part of Kenya's 50 year celebrations.

WHEN: 28th November 2013
WHERE: KICC

The trophy will arrive in Kenya on November 27th for a two day tour and will be received by President Uhuru Kenyatta at JKIA.

Over the course of the tour stop, fans of the game will be able to experience several activities planned by Coca-Cola and Fifa. Hundreds of fans will win free tickets through Coca-Cola promotions which will give them a chance to not only get up close with the trophy, but take a picture next to it during a public viewing session at KICC. Lucky fans will also get the opportunity to win branded merchandise, a worthy souvenir they will all live to cherish. In addition, there will be a concert graced by David Correy who has sung the theme song for the 2014 World Cup edition

The first time the trophy landed in Kenya was in 2010 prior to the last World Cup held in South Africa. The trophy, as is custom was received and only touched by the President, then Mwai Kibaki. Only sitting presidents and World Cup winning players are allowed to lay their hands on the 18-carat gold malachite base trophy. As it is, President Uhuru Kenyatta, is the only person in the country who will be allowed to touch the trophy.

The trophy will be in the country as part of a worldwide tour spanning over 148,000kms through 88 countries and the five continents, courtesy of Coca-Cola. Other African countries which will host the trophy include; Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, Ghana, Tanzania and South Africa.
